Diego started as a Project Coordinator for my Waterloo Turf franchise on Tuesday, May 26th, 2026.
By that Friday, without us asking, he built a plan to streamline a clunky manual process. It was a great idea that we implemented the following week.
A-Players will impress you immediately.
Not next month or next year, but within days.
Diego wasn’t some random newbie. He spent 5 years leading supply chains, logistics, and technology projects. He has a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and a Six Sigma Yellow Belt.
Our Waterloo team is small since it’s less than two years old. It’s just my business partner Rick, two sales reps, and now Diego.
Here’s what Diego was assigned to do:
- Respond to all leads within minutes, following up until contact is made
- Coordinate appointments for our sales and project teams
- Serve as the first point of contact for client questions and concerns
- Order job materials from vendors, getting them delivered to job sites
- Track all material and labor costs to ensure accurate margins
- Join local Facebook and community groups for turf-related questions
Plus a bunch of other small admin-related activities.
Guess who was doing all this before?
Rick, my business partner.
Diego frees up 15 to 20 hours per week that Rick can now pour into higher-leverage work.
Like building relationships with municipality decision-makers sitting on a $1M budget to replace a local soccer field. 🤞🤞🤞
Or pet boarding franchisees developing multiple locations across the city.
Or just spending more time on the new territory we bought.
So we must be paying Diego a lot of money, right?
His salary is $1,500
Not $1,500 per week
But $1,500 per month.
Diego is based in Mexico, where that money goes a long way.
Can you imagine how many people would love a well-paying, 100% remote job like this one?
99% of them wouldn’t meet our standards.
Finding global A-Players like Diego is a needle in a haystack
Unless you know how to find them.....
I kicked off the search on May 10th, and five days later, Diego was one of the first five candidates I reviewed.
We interviewed him on the 21st, offered him the job on the 23rd, and he started on the 26th.
16 days from start to finish.
What’s my secret?
I used Global Team, a staffing agency that recruits the top 1% of talent from Latin America
They have a proprietary process to find & screen candidates fast.
I’ve hired a lot of global talent over the last 6 years (we currently employ 15 people worldwide), and I was blown away by the speed and quality of Global Team compared to every other recruiter I’ve used.
Which is why I’m now an equity partner of Global Team.
My goal as a partner is simple: I want to help every business owner free up their time and put more money in their pocket.
Leveraging global talent is the easiest way to do that.
The hard part is knowing which roles to hire and finding them.
I can now help with both :)

P.S. I’m working with a handful of franchise brands to create a customized global hiring playbook. We’re mapping out the specific global roles their franchisees would benefit the most from.
