Escape the hamster wheel

Running shops was never my goal.

I’m not a “car guy” at all. I’m a business guy who happens to be in car repair.

My goal has always been to build a business that didn’t need me.

One with a strong team, great margins, and systems so every decision doesn’t run through me.

I’ve accomplished that mission

Here’s how you can do the same:

I’m guessing that you’re too much in the weeds.

You tolerate mediocre performance because it feels like the easier path vs. hiring/training new people.

This way of operating is totally fine if you’re okay being stuck as the “hero” of your business forever.

But it’s never going to work if you want to escape the hamster wheel.

It all starts with intentionality

You have to identify and eliminate every operational bottleneck that relies on you personally.

Not all at once, but step by step.

It could start by handing all your admin work off to a global teammate

I recommend using these guys to find A+ global talent.

Then you could fire your underperforming sales guy and put the new guy on a lucrative, performance-driven plan.

Operationally, you hold everyone accountable for following checklists so things don't fall through the cracks and require you to clean up.

Once you start freeing up your time, you can invest in growing the business.

You’ll find new ways to improve sales, margins & your team.

Now you’ve got the confidence to take on that next acquisition, which compounds into another, then another.

All along the way, you continue to operate under the same intentionality.

Get in there, do the hard work of figuring it all out, then remove yourself brick by brick.

None of this is rocket science.

I’ve done it. I’ve helped dozens of owners do this.

Which means you can do it too.

Cheers!

Brian
