The first 6 to 12 months after launching a new business can be brutal
You start with big dreams and plan on doing better than everyone else.
But then reality sets in:
- Getting customers is very expensive
- Your close rate is 10 points lower than budgeted
- Nobody wants to work at the rates you’re offering
You start to question if you made a huge mistake
I call this the 6-Month Knife Fight
There are two keys to survival.
First is to stay positive. Being a Debby Downer doesn’t help you.
Things will get better. This is normal.
Second, focus on getting 1% better per day: sales process, local marketing, referral partners, operations, etc.
Small wins compound over time.
This is happening right now at my Waterloo Turf business in Houston.
The first 6 months were a rollercoaster of ups & downs.
But around month 7, things really started clicking.
Now we’re in month 10 and feel like momentum is really starting to pick up
We're expecting to have a monster year
You’ve got this.
Cheers!
Brian
