One of our 8-Figure Franchisee members last week sent me this:
Hey Brian, thanks for reaching out. It's been going OK and getting better. We had a slower start than I had hoped, but we've been absolutely slammed over the last three weeks.
We had a huge increase in sales in August, and I'm bringing on a production manager to get our jobs going so I can refocus on higher-value stuff.
The first five months haven't been easy, but I think it has legs and I'm excited to see where it goes!
You're pumped when you launch the business.
You have big expectations and dreams.
But then reality sets in.
Sales take longer than expected to get going.
It takes time to find the right people, dial in the marketing, learn the systems, and build a reputation within your community.
It sounds simple, but it's not easy.
Nothing easy is worth doing.
The key is to keep going.
Don't get discouraged.
You can't lose faith.
Reach out to successful franchisees in your system if you're starting to feel that way.
Most will be happy to give you help and some motivation.
The knife fight is where you learn what works and what doesn't.
Focus on improving one thing daily: sales process, follow-up, Google reviews, referral partners, operations, bookkeeping.
Otherwise, you'll drink from a firehose trying to do everything, making zero progress.
This period is where you figure out which metrics actually matter (less is more)
Usually, between 7 and 12 months, things start clicking.
You've started to build a solid team. People are stepping up.
You can delegate to gain some freedom.
Seeds you planted months ago are starting to sprout.
By months 12 to 18 things should be clicking
You have an established team, systems in place, a solid reputation, and reliable cash flow.
The business gets exponentially easier as you get bigger.
Understand this is all part of the process.
The biggest thing is don’t lose faith.
Once you give up on the business it’s guaranteed to fail
